Around, absolutely nothing can be heard, and this is, in a curious way, both strange and salvational together. Below the Kazarma peak of the Thessalian Agrafa, the mobile phone doesn't catch any signal, saving us from notifications for SMS, incoming emails, and all kinds of push notifications. The nearest road is kilometers away, as is any sign of civilization. West of Lake Plastira, at an altitude of about 1,600 m, we let our gaze slowly wander in the tranquil natural landscape. We don't need a reference to scientific research to be convinced of the beneficial thing; we feel it right at that moment. The famous mental and physical well-being we all seek, but no one can exactly describe how it is achieved, certainly begins with our contact with the natural environment. The Japanese described it as "Shinrin-Yoku," meaning "forest bathing"; the Norwegians as "friluftsliv," which translates to "life in the fresh air." Whatever words, Greek or foreign, one uses to describe the escape to nature for the purpose of well-being and relaxation, they fully correspond to the experience one will have when traveling to Lake Plastira.

Montanema Handmade Village

More than just an inn, Montanema advocates a different philosophy of hospitality. Nestled in the forest and gorge above the village of Anthochori, the complex consists of more than 30 cottages that seamlessly blend into the surrounding environment. It is a unique retreat that is both serene and full of activities. The spa center features a pool and a Jacuzzi with mountain views, a hammam, a sauna, and massage treatments. The restaurant prepares delicious daily dishes with local ingredients, and the cafe is ideal for getting lost in the pages of a book while occasionally lifting your gaze to the wooded slopes. You can learn to open a leaf, make olive oil and herb soap gathered from the mountain, swing over a steep slope, or observe turkeys, sheep, piglets, and ponies on the farm. The cottages all have fireplaces, no televisions, and are comfortable and spacious.
